When exactly did this show, and SVU, first enter U.S. syndication?

shareI don't know about SVU, but I can tell you that L&O was already in syndication in late 1997, when I began watching the show. It was on A&E at the time and Seasons 1-5 were being shown while NBC was airing its new Season 8 episodes.
A year or two later, A&E caught up to NBC, airing Seasons 6 and 7. Around 2002, TNT took over syndication of older episodes although the WE network also airs older episodes.
Whoever is doing it has to be making a mint; playing on so many cable channels absolutely everyday and night with "CI!" Never watched "Trial By Jury!"
