Serena in S15, E7 (spoilers)

This episode deals with gay marriage it seems that Serena is all for it, even refusing to argue before the NY Supreme Court that such a marriage is unconstitutional.

Nothing is said about her being gay, but, watching it in retrospect, I'd say she is and that McCoy and Branch were aware of it based on a few looks that they exchanged once or twice during the episode.

Have any of the writers ever spoken on the subject of her final line?

Do you mean have they spoken of it in general or have they spoken of whether the decision to have her character be gay had already been made by the time that episode was written and the looks you noticed were deliberate clues? I like many fans don't like the way they handled that coming out. I know Wolf has said it was done for a "water cooler moment" type of thing, but because of that it came off as treating a serious issue (gay rights, treatment of gays in the workplace) like a publicity stunt.
