Was Angie Harmon Not Liked On This Show?

I am watching reruns now of her seasons and realized that I never hear much about her anymore in relation to 'Law and Order'. Was her character not well liked on the show? Was it her decision to leave or was she fired?

People are mixed about Abbie Carmichael, she isn't universally loved or hated by L&O fans. She falls in the same way with characters such as Joe Fontana, Jamie Ross, Arthur Branch, Cyrus Lupo, Kevin Bernard and Rey Curtis. Some fans hate her, some fans love her.

I liked Abbie Carmichael most of the time, although a few times she was over the top and acted too bitchy.

I originally didn't like Harmon or her Carmichael character. She had replaced Carey Lowell and her Ross character, my favorite actress and character in that ADA role. Harmon was a little too overbearing and seemed to overshadow Jack in several episodes.

But years later, after watching her in reruns, I softened my dislike of Harmon/Carmichael. She did not become my favorite but moved up a few notches into the middle of the pack among the ADAs.

I am not sure why she left the show. I think she had just become engaged or married and planned to start a family. I suppose her departure from the show was on good terms because Carmichael becoming a U.S. Attorney in the Manhattan office left it ripe for Harmon to guest star in some future episode (think about how Connie appeared in some SVU episodes in a similar role). That never happened, though.

It was her decision, because she wanted to focus on film & she was engaged. She even filmed extra, because the strike was "looming". She was my favorite on the law side. Some called her bitchy, but I liked the attitude in comparison to McCoy.

Never cared for her character; so cold-blooded and let her personal feelings get in the way of her judgment and decisions! All you have to do is check out "Punk" where this poor woman was being sexually assaulted and even had her child threatened to keep her in check while incarcerated! Abby went after her "tooth and nail" after the guard was killed! It was so irrational until she backed off when it came out she had been assaulted herself! So then she was being even more of a hypocrite when haranguing this poor woman, trying to get the max sentence!

In another case dealing with unscrupulous doctors, they were literally begging for their lives and she pretty much drove one to suicide! IDK how anyone can behave like that with little to no conscience? She played the role well! There were so many instances where she wanted to be the one to pull the switch on someone sentence to death! She appeared sorta bent and only shed a tear once when a fellow ADA was murdered by the Russian mob to prevent testimony! I still have to hear her in old episodes of the animated series of Batman where she's the voice of Comm. Barbra Gordon! 

I was glad when she left; married NY Giants Safety, Jason Sehorn! I remember him coming out and surprising her on the "Tonight Show" to proposed! Checking Wiki, it appears they're separated! Shocking! 

I love Abbie Carmichael, it's Jamie Ross who bothered me at times. Like when she didn't want the guy who killed people while he was driving drunk to get a harsh sentence. He killed a little boy! Would she have felt that way if it had been her daughter he killed?

I never much cared for Ross either.
That ep. you cite about the DUI fatality, it is hard to understand why Jack held-back on it.
The defendant didn't deserve a light sentence.
