Angus V Merton

I have been watching several old clips of HIGNFY and I must say I didn't notice the friction between these two that Merton has of late claimed existed.

Angus was I feel more than an autocue in a suit as on several occassions he did improvise and get the better of Merton.

Was and is Merton a significant reason why Angus got sacked and is not being brought back.

Angus got sacked because - and I quote from the BBC - "It's not possible for him to comment on the news when he IS the news.".

Certainly Paul and Ian could have refrained from the barrage of abuse they gave him on the show, but I don't think it would have made a difference to the BBC's decision.

There were a few instances on the show where Paul got a little pissed off with Angus - and he'd let him know. The BBC won't go back on their decision, but if they did, I'd imagine Paul wouldn't be too happy about it. And Paul's far too important to the show to risk doing something that would make him leave.

"If you shoot this man, you die next. Repeat. If you shoot this man, you die next."

How about bring Angus in as a guest presenter?

It's a idea. Could happen. I'd be for it, certainly.

Agreed I think the interaction between Merton and Angus would be very interesting.

to be honest, i dont know if angus would agree to be guest presenter after the way merton and hislop treated him, and i dont think ian and paul would agree to it

it's been four years since he was sacked, and i dont think ian and paul would like it, and they are far more important than angus. i also have a feeling paul would bring it up again, as he has made some references to it over the past few years since the sacking, and its pointless as it was a long time ago so is no longer news

A one of special would be interesting though and I feel Ian may agree to it.

It could certainly be no worse than Gordon Ramsay or the guy who presented it this week.
