Hislop was a twat to Crow

OK, they may have different politcal opinions, but Hislop using a show that he is a regular on to deliver a political diatribe against a political fiure from the left was appalling. I mean, does anyone realistically think Hislop has the faintest idea what the tube is like? The guy gets taxis everywhere!

it seems that all these panel shows are you used to tell people off these days

I think some of it is down to the edit. I went to the recording on Thursday and when the panel come out, everyone was booing and hissing Bob Crow and because the atmosphere was a bit tense, Jimmy and Ian made a couple of jokes/comments about the tube to lighten the mood. Then, noone really said anything to Bob, but he kept trying to attack Ian, although he got his facts wrong - he told him he was a Cambridge toff and accidentally called him Paul. Bob told Ian that he looked and behaved like a typical Millwall fan, that he had more in common with a Chinese labourer than Ian and that he was a stuck up lobster quaffing snob. I think that you can only take so much rubbish before your instinct to attack kicks in.

I thought it was more Crow making jibes to Ian. :S

reply

Did you even watch the whole programme? Bob Crow was the one making (rather poor) attacks on Ian for being rich! I thought Ian took it quite well!

Wait doesn't Have I Got News For You satire politics? Ian Hislop attacks all political figures from all sides, whether they're on the show or not, I'm pretty sure he's a right leaning Libertarian. I don't get your point:

"using a show that he is a regular on to deliver a political diatribe against a political fiure from the left was appalling."

He should be immune from criticism because he represents left wing politics?!? Anyway Bob Crowe is up himself too much, he needed taking down a peg or two. I don't understand why he went on it if he was going to take everything so seriously.
Having said that I though it worked with him on it, it was like a return to the mid-90's episode of the show.
