shareI think it has to do with him having been one of the two people possessed in the very first Ghostbusters movie. That's all I could think of even back then.
A more interesting choice would have been "Harold Ramis' who played the bookish Egon in that movie. Or even Dan Akroyd who played the much more easy going Ray Stanz. Both characters were supposed to have been college professors (aka teachers) at one point,
But since they 'busted' ghosts, and the students and other faculty ARE supernatural, the studio probably did not want to have to explain why either of those two ended up here.
