This show started when I was 9 and so I never really related to any of the storylines or understood what was going on. I decided to try re-watching the series from the beginning and I guess I still don’t understand what is going on lol

A few things I’ve noticed:

Carol seems to be annoyed a lot. She always ends up being the voice of reason by the end of the episodes. She even stayed up all night worrying that her son was porking his gf in the next room (which he was). It’s like no one can even live. Jim and Carol are supposed to be a more modest, working class family living in BH. What does Jim do? Is he a lawyer? Their house is pretty nice. Does Carol work or just sit around and bitch about everything when she isn’t cooking dinner? How do they afford where they live on one income? I guess the Walshes are just your average, homey family that are navigating around BH and trying to figure out every one else’s glamorous lifestyle while they clip coupons and struggle to pay for designer jeans

Ahhhhdrea comes off as creepy towards Brandon. I’m currently on S1E8 and thus far, she obviously has it bad for him. She gets jealous whenever Brandon gets a new girl (which he seems to every other episode) She isn’t very subtle about it either. It’s starting to get annoying because she barely even knows him. Does she act like this to every guy she likes?

Brenda’s teeth are scary. What is with the huge gaps between her teeth? I’ve noticed this since I was 9. I used to think she smoked or something and it was cigarette stains. It’s grossing me out.

Brandon has a new love interest all the time. He’s the slut of the show. It’s like a revolving door of women. He even screwed one with his parents in the next room. Does he end up getting HIV? Or is he a responsible and wholesome player that always wears a condom?

Does Donna get bigger parts later on? So far she’s just comedic relief and will say something ditzy and that’s really it

I started watching back when I was in jr high. Obviously my perspective changed a little over time.

Honestly, if I were Cindy and married to Jim, I would be annoyed too. He lets Brandon get away with so much. The two siblings are literally supposed to be twins, and he coddles Brandon constantly. Plus, other than the attempt to give Cindy a next door neighbor she can talk to in 'Ashes to Ashes' she doesn't have anybody she can really talk with during the day. Donna's mom (ie Felice, the one for most of the series) is an uptight self-righteous snob, Jackie is a recovering drug addict and former model, Samantha Sanders is a tv actress. Out of the regular moms she only bonds with Iris Mckay who is living in Hawaii. She probably would have had more in common with Andrea's mom.

I thought Andrea had a crush on Brandon. But I do see Steve having a crush on Andrea. His dad (who loved power) would have been dragging Andrea to every social event bragging about her latest achievement. I can even see Rush (and a girl friend) taking them out to a restaurant and Rush deciding to announce to anybody within earshot about Andrea's talents much to Andrea and Steve's embarrassment.

The Walshes moved to Beverly Hills because Jim got a big promotion--so it's plausible that they did not have the money for braces before then. And remember even through a company, dental insurance is separate from other health insurance (for whatever reason).

Donna did get bigger roles later but this is because Shannen and other originals left. Originally they were not sure what to do with her. In the very first episode she has a wild streak but later on she is an 'innocent' who is saving herself and talks in a high-pitched baby voice. Apparently she auditioned for a role on the show using a 'fake name' but people on the set of course realized it was her. Were they going to deny a role to the daughter of the executive producer of the show?
