Season 3 is fantastic, how do 4 and 5 stack up?

I've been watching chronologically and I feel that season 3 is where all the talent steps up and the series really becomes its own creation. I'm going to keep watching anyway, but I was wondering how you vets felt seasons 4 and 5 stack up quality wise to this one

Seasons 5+6 is when the show started to emulate the sister-show Melrose Place... and I loved it! But if you don't love the soap opera craziness you'll not like those seasons.

Four is good because Brenda and Dylan become friends and good friends--actually he is her only friend when everybody even her own brother shuns her. Noely Thornton could actually act and I was ticked they did not keep her on as character

It's the last good season. 5 and six suck. Don't get them.

There are a few good storylines in each of seasons 4,5 and 6 but in my opinion season 3 is the best season overall. After season 6 I think the show really tanked.

I agree with you about season 3.

season 4 shows you the bastardization of the character Andrea. that is all I will say.

season 5: the further bastardization of Andrea complete with her on screen transformation into a 40 year old woman.

however, the good news with seasons 4 and 5 is the transitions of the characters into college. we see what happens with andrea and she was the worst one. they all pretty much respond the way you would think they would and understandably you feel for most of them. you have some new characters, some passers by [Lucinda] and some with more staying power [Clare], and I guess Brandon turns out to be more of a man-whore than Steve.

Steve, as many of you have seen from my posts, is my favorite as I often mention how he was like one of the only characters who actually GREW up and took responsibility for his antics.

Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.

Season 3 is the best season of the high school years, but I like season 4 better. Season 4 is actually my favorite season of the show. Season 5 is good too because we get introduced to Valerie, who is my favorite character, but I think season 6 is better than season 5. Season 6 would be my second favorite season of the show.
