Priestley as the old jeweler....

What the heck was with Priestley dressing up as that old German jeweler in the episode where Brandon wants to return the engagement ring? He looked silly and creepy...Why did he do that? Why not just have the jeweler played by an actual old man?

he must have been sampling some of dancin' dave's 'oj'....๎ฉ

Answer?

Jason Priestly directed that episode (I assume it's "With This Ring" you refer to) and probably wanted to show off his mad acting skillz.

reply

I was kind of thinking it could have been an episode that Priestley directed....I guess that makes sense now. Maybe he wanted to try something new.

It was still lame.

Now that I think about it, the late 90s were fraught with bad prosthetics and "old people" makeup in movies and on tv. Can't help but remember the horrible prosthetics used in Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. Lol

reply

I enjoyed this. lol. I got tired of the ring storyline but I did enjoy Jason being the old guy.

reply

It was definitely different from the same ol' drama of the show! Kind of lame but funny too

reply

It actually took me rewatching the episode after it was over before I could place that it was Priestly. Not my proudest moment but I was sadly assuming he wouldn't be lame enough to play that character. It was a disappointment to find out I was wrong.

I wondered it it was supposed to be symbolic but I don't know how exactly it would be.

reply

symbolic for his large ego, yes.
