Seasons...which to watch, which to avoid?

I just started watching season one for the first time. Very nostalgic and surreal I must say. I love 90s & 80s culture.

With 10 seasons to go through, is there any point in which the series loses steam?
Just curious.

Hi! Seasons 1-4 are amazing! I enjoyed season 5 as well even though Brenda isn't in it. But I do like Val a lot! Honestly I'd say just watch all the seasons. 9 and 10 aren't as good as the early seasons but I still enjoy watching them because it's 90210!!

I always watch 1-6. 7 isn't that bad either.

8-10 are where it starts to get WAYY away from the way it started.

Definitely watch 1-6 though.

Since this is your first time through, I suggest watching the series in its entirety. For me, the best seasons are 1-3 and 6. 4, 5, and 7 are just ok. I more or less stop watching after 7, tuning in again once it goes back to the beginning.

I watch 1-4. The show was supposed to be about the Walsh family from Minnesota moving to Beverly Hills and figuring out how to adjust to their new city and friends.

I stop when Walshes start leaving. The series looses steam.

My personal favorite seasons are 4-7.

Seasons 1-3 are fantastic for nostalgia purposes.

Seasons 8-10 are cheesy camp but still kind of awesome because they are so terrible. It's one of those "so-bad-that-it's-good" situations.

Sorry meant to say seasons 3-7 were my personal favorites. Senior year was a great season.

Seasons 9 & 10 are unbearable for me to watch. But everybody has different opinions on that, but that's ultimately up to you if you want to watch seasons 9 & 10.

Yes I agree they are pretty terrible. And I didn't watch those episodes when they aired...but I kind of like them now!

I completely agree with Pioneergrrrl. I just love the Brenda Years!

Pioneer, did you stop watching after season 5 or after season 8? Just wondering.

Season 6 is the highest rated Valerie season.

Well since we are being honest and these message boards will close in a few days, here's what I suggest

Seasons 1-3 were the best of the series, this is when they are in high school and it's when the series was at it's most popular. The chemistry between the cast is pretty great during these seasons and I think it's before all the drama happened with Shannen Doherty.

Speaking of Doherty, thats when we get into Season 4. Season 4 wasn't terrible and I would still rate it in the top 5 but it's definitely veering in a new direction at this point and starts turning into Melrose Place(this show was a 90210 spinoff "prime time soap opera ala Dynasty" back in the 90s) Season 5 is pretty bad, bad clothing, bad hairstyles, bad storylines, bad everything lol You have one weird episode where they mock MTV reality series "The Real World" and Dylan and Valerie(Tiffany A. Thiessen, the chick from this 1990s tween series Saved By The Bell) have some weird episodes where they are in Mexico trying to get back their money back. Then season 6 was a tiny bit better, they had some good appearances by past characters on the earlier seasons but it definitely is a primetime soap at this point but acceptable. Season 7 seems to be about the same as season 6. Season 8 and 9 were arguably the worst seasons ever written in the history of primetime television and the Season 10 ends up a little better but only because it had the finale.

So if you want to watch it in chronological order, that's what you are going to expect from the seasons

If you want to cherry pick seasons, I'd go in this order, 1-4,6,7,10,8, and 9 last.
