Andrea's Marriage

In reality, would Andrea still be married all these years later?
I doubt it. She was unhappy early on and still seemed to be at the 5 year high school reunion.
Seems one of those situations where they would never have stayed together if not for having a child.

reply

IMO, they never should have married to begin with. It was ridiculous. What a messed up move for her character. Experiencing single motherhood could have given her a new activist passion, and grew her character quite a bit. Other options would have been hide GC's pregnancy or play into the weight gain, like Andrea being the one to experience the "Freshman 15" or they could have had her study abroad for a semester. THAT would have worked out perfectly, timing wise. But nope, they make the most idiotic decision possible and marry an 18/19 year old full-time college student.

That said, I agree they wouldn't still be married. That marriage didn't stand a chance.

I think she actually told Brandon that she & Jesse were getting a divorce at the reunion.

So, no- not together.

reply

DID they actually get a divorce?

Was the status of her marriage to Jesse ever addressed again after that 5 year reunion episode?

reply

I seem to recall a scene where she & Brandon are talking & he's asking her if she's done everything possible to save her marriage.

She says they have & indicates that it's over. She also has a conversation w/ a fellow '93 grad about how he is getting divorced & Andrea smiles as if to say- "Wow. Me too!"

reply

i believe vasquez law prohibited andruuh from talking about the divorce...

reply

The Andrea and Jesse thing was stupid anyway

It made no sense and those 2 actors had zero chemistry

reply

They reconciled

reply

I agree zero chemistry between them.

reply

I would have had her paired with another person--like Sanders...who liked her and her passion. On the other hand Gabrielle wanted off of the show. If she still wanted to stay pairing her w steve would have made the most sense. Steve was always in awe of her.

reply

I personally liked her best with Dan.

reply

Didn't Steve marry the Asian girl he got pregnant?

reply

Steve married Janet, and yes I believe she was Asian? I'm not sure of her ethnicity.

reply

I think Janet worked for a magazine as well.

reply

Didn't she cheat on her husband once?

reply

She cheated on him, yes.

reply

And then acted like hers was "justified" but when she found out Jesse cheated too, she had a fit.

reply

Such a soap opera! Haha.

It's funny because I read the synopsis to that episode and decided not to watch it because I know exactly where that was going. "Turns out Jesse had a secret of his own." Oh boy. Turns out I was right.

Why was she unhappy early on? I recall her being upset his mom put a rosary on the baby.

reply

She's Jewish

reply

Which was such a retcon. Andrea was introduced as having been raised in a non-religious household by parents with different religious backgrounds. I found it hard to believe that she suddenly turned into a radical Jew.

reply

She mentioned her religious background to Brandon once when she was attending a college open house in San Marino.

reply

When it suited her, she was all Jewish. Including telling Jesse He would have no say, because it was *her* baby.
Of curse, when it came to :child" support, it was his baby too.

reply

or she could have been paired with Josh Richland--who knew about her work at West Beverly. They're basically the same anyways. It would be very convincing the two of them would hook up.

reply

She gave up on reporting because she didn't want to slam the Peach Pit. I could see the two hooking up though. And if they still killed Josh off, her as a single mother.

reply

college newspapers still have a faculty advisor though. So Richland gets corrected/clarified by that advisor and he concedes to Andrea he's had a thing for her.

reply

That could have worked. And still went with my idea - still eventually killing him off and Andrea as a single mother.

reply

I'd be unhappy married to Jesse too.

reply

What was wrong with him.
