Universal sued Nintendo over Donkey Kong just a few years before this.

I know a lot can happen in just a few years, but I still find it surprising that they could put their differences aside and work together on what is pretty much a story-based feature-length commercial for Nintendo games and one horrid peripheral.

Which reminds me, maybe Lucas Barton actually did mean the Power Glove was bad in a negative way. He was probably showing off his skills with a handicap, and people who saw him use it would think: "Imagine how great he is with a controller that doesn't suck!" Well, that's the impression I got when I first saw the movie anyway, since I'd had experience with that thing myself.

Not only that but the two companies are teaming up together again to build Nintendo inspired rides at Universal theme parks:

I bet it will be in Florida. I wonder if it will be a part of an existing Universal park (like the Harry Potter experience) or a completely separate park. If it's the latter, I can't help wondering if Peach's castle will be a prominent display or if it will be like Nintendo's take on Disneyland.
I'm fine staying at a Mario- or Zelda-themed hotel, but if I have to put up with hearing Mario's voice all the time, that could be a deal breaker.

My bet is that it's going to be initially a themed area similar to that of Harry Potter to serve as a testbed. If this proves to be insanely popular, they might develop it into a full fledge separate theme park.

Here's my idea of a Nintendoland:

A futuristic area from Metroid, Starfox, F-Zero, Advance Wars

A fantasy area from Zelda, Mario, Kid Icarus, Fire Emblem
Peaches Castle or Hyrule Castle could be the centerpiece

A kiddy area from Kirby, Pokemon, Animal Crossing

A jungle area from Donkey Kong, Pikmin, Yoshi's Island

A sports area from Excitebike, Pilotwings, Punch-Out!, Wii Fit

Main Street from Earthbound
