The ladder that Gavin and Susan were fervently rushing to the rescue with was hardly going to do any good.

I'm guessing that's why the camera is on the two of them just long enough for the comedic effect of their late arrival -- but not long enough for the viewer to notice the inadequate ladder.

A ladder the appropriate size would be too much for the actor and actress to manage at such a quick clip. Not to mention the length would need a more distant shot to bring them both into the frame.

Yeah I just watched this film for the first time in a long time and that moment struck me as curious -- thinking about it from a filmmakers point of view.

Just a whimsical post to mention a curiosity. That's one of the things these boards are useful for. Frivolous chats about films.

No doubt a poster such as yourself would find it "deep."

Some advice . . . when you woof down that pate mind the amount of edibles you use in the recipe.

Picturing De Vito with those four steps hanging over the balcony trying to reach their fingertips, most likely he would have ended up on there with them
