Question about Tia

I just watched most of this movie on TV for the first time recently, but there were some parts I didn't see. I also haven't seen the ending yet.

I have a question about the teenage girl Tia, which I didn't even know her name until I read other threads on here. Such a pretty name

At the beginning when Uncle Buck arrives and he's cooking breakfast in the kitchen in the morning, Tia comes in the kitchen. She gives him a cold hard stare and doesn't talk to him and seems very mad at him. She obviously doesn't like him. But why? Why is she upset that he's there? Is it cause she herself thought she was responsible enough to watch her siblings on her own? What did he ever do to her? Is she just being a moody teenager? Y doesn't she like him? And why is she mad at him through most of the movie?

There were parts of the movie that I missed, so the explanation of her disliking him could have been explained and I missed it

Perhaps she knows he's not the most responsible person and isn't qualified for the job and shouldn't be there? But I mean, she doesn't know him that well. She doesn't see him that much

Tia wasn’t a very nice person Peaceful224, and that’s putting it mildly. To make matters worse, she was already at odds with her mother, and to compound the situation, Uncle Buck comes along at a particularly trying time for the family, and became a convenient vent for her anger.

By the way, for those that are unaware. The girl that played Tia was the same woman that played Kim in the series Yes Dear. But she doesn’t look anything like she did in Uncle Buck at that point, so something about her has changed.

Ok I thought maybe it had something to do with personal issues. Basically she was being a moody teenager and taking some of her anger out on him.

Idk much about the actress that plays Tia. Don't know anything about the series yes dear. No interest really

I think at first she was just a moody teenager and she was venting her frustrations and anger on him. Plus the little she did know about him probably came from her mother who definitely had a low opinion of Buck.

Then he embarrassed her in front of the school, made it clear he wouldn't tolerate the attitude, and then made a veiled threat to Bug. At that point she realized he was different than her parents in that he was actually paying attention and knew what kind of guy Bug was because he was a guy like that. From that point on it was just her trying to get back at him.

I always saw it as her being a moody teenager who didn't respect her elders including her mum and Uncle Buck.
