He's a dogue de bordeaux.
It's a wonderful breed. My fried have a DDB kennel
and they are so wonderful.
You can really se in the movie how the dog just love
to act, his tail is wagging all the time :)

I just bought a dogue de bordeaux puppy four weeks ago, her name is clarisse and I have been in love with these dogs since I saw the movie 10 years ago..they are the best breed of dog I have ever owned, big, strong, but so loveable and sensitive, and no they don't slobber like the movie dictates.

Dogue de Bordeaux, it's an old french dog

A friend of mine has a dogue de bordeaux. he definitely slobbers a lot. Maybe it differs for each individual dog of this type of dog.

I knew he was some kind of mastiff. A friend of mine has an English Mastiff that is MUCH bigger than what hooch looks like, and my neighbor has a Norweigan blue mastiff, she's beautiful. Then I saw an advertisement for a dogue de bordeaux and wondered what that was. It's Hooch all right!!

I think you mean a Neopolitan Mastiff, which is THE largest mastiff of them all. And they come in the blue you mentioned which is almost identical to Weimeramer gray (eyes and all). There are also brown varieties as well. Prone to a number of medical conditions though, like cherry eye, mange, and numerous other skin conditions.
