I read that Tom Hanks had Henry Winkler fired from the film as the director. Is this true, and why? Pretty harsh. I read an interview with Winkler, and I vaguely remember him saying he was really upset about being fired by Hanks. Thanks for any info about this.

Winkler' blew it by mouthing-off to prospective shooting location entities, ie: the Caramel Town Assembley - Henry lost credibility down in Dirty Harry country and Hanks', a silent-partner/producer complained about the delays. Unless Tom Hanks was producer or executive producer on this movie, he personally could not have fired Henry Winkler.

shareThis is true. Winkler appeared on the Howard Stern show in 2014. Even tho he wouldn't say his name, he did say 1 of the main actors and him had a proplem in the past and he threaten to walk. So Winkler was let go.
