The SCRATCHES on Tom Hanks back

Wow, definitely not a family comedy. What were they trying to do with it?

This is the scene: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098536/mediaviewer/rm158800640

Omg. I just saw this tonight for the first time and came here to see if anyone else noticed it.

Seriously though, would they go to the trouble of adding scratches on purpose? I mean, what else could it be?

Or it could have been from the earlier scene where Tom Hanks is trying to get Hooch in the bath? They wrestled quite a bit so the scratches on his back are more than likely from the dog!

It looks to me like they're too spaced apart to be caused by dog claws. More likely horny vet claws!
