When even Burt Reynolds won't touch a script you know it is no good

When you can't even get Burt Reynolds to pony up to this nag, not to mention Dom Delouise, then you know this horse won't run.

That means it needs to be put out to pasture or shot for glue.

Come on this forumula is worn out. Even with the inclusion of the great John Candy there isn't too much to say about this flick.

Specially that Burt is a pretty bad actor but hell, he did way movies that are worse than this one! ;)

He was probably tired of being known as "the guy in those car movies. I mean look at how many he did "Gator, White Lightning," Smokey & The Bandit 1-3," "Hooper," Cannonball Run 1-2," "Stroker Ace." I think this was around the time that "Evening Shade" was about to begin and he didn't want to mess that up with another car movie.

It was probably around that time that he wasn't OFFERED any car movies at that. Hal Neddham had flopped big with Megaforce, so he was no longer bankable either.

Burt only appeared in "Smokey & The Bandit 3" near the end of the movie.
