I don't understand why the cheerleader wasn't part of the society
A blonde bimbo cheerleader would surely be a prime representative of the 80s elite. Also, I don't get why an Italian-American woman and a Jewish guy were cast as Clarissa and Ferguson respectively. I think it would have made far more sense, and be less racially contentious, if all the elites had looked like Billy's family (i.e. blonde, fair-skinned or sun-tanned, and WASPy looking). The family was well-cast, but some of the other 'elites' looked ethnic and/or physically unassuming. They should have all looked like 'perfect' Barbie and Ken doll types.
Also, why wasn't Shauna, the cheerleader invited to Ferguson's party? She was rich, wasn't she? She had an expensive-looking car, and I suspect most of the kids at their Beverly Hills high-school were pretty well-to-do.
