Is it just me or is his beard fake in some scenes - like the one where he drops by at his ex-wife's wedding ? It sure looked weird. Anyway it was a great movie, made by a true master.

No, it's not just you. I just watched it(Warner Archive release) and it is definitely fake in some of the later scenes. My guess would be that he had finished the film, shaved it off, then had to come back for reshoots and didn't have enough time to regrow it, so they faked it. You can see a similar problem with Andrew McCarthy in Pretty in Pink. He went off to do another movie, got a haircut, then had to do the prom scene in a bad wig.

^^^ This is pretty much what happened. I don't even know if it was actual re-shoots. I think They wanted to add to the movie actually and, yes, he shaved his beard off at that point.
You'll work on... "We were making too much money".
I'm guessing this movie went through re-shoots
