Laura was watching something with a bird ripping some guys eyes out. Then he dives off a cliff.

"The Terror" with Jack Nicholson and Boris Karloff. I got it on DVD along with "Teenagers From Outer Space" as a double feature for five dollars.

Yes, and because it's in the public domain, they could use it in this film without paying royalties. It's sheer genius or just business savvy.

Yes, she was blind, so she may have been "watching" it but not "seeing" it. Probably just picking up on the image from what she heard.

Sort of correct. Hellman shot 2nd unit as did a few others. Roger Corman directed The Terror.

I didn't realize the director of this was involved in the making of The Terror, too. That's pretty interesting. It was neat to recognize clips of it in this movie.
