Amazing...
This was my sixth Heneke film, and as always, I wasn’t disappointed. I have literally only just finished watching it, so my mind is racing. After a quick scan of the message boards (always best to do this after watching a Heneke film rather than before) I seem to agree with the general interpretations.
The main reason for posting though, is a recommendation by a director with a similar vision – Gasper Noe. The film being “I Stand Alone” (Seul contre tous) which I implore any lover of Der Siebente Kontinent to seek out immediately. As with the Seventh Continent, the film oozes nihilism and hopelessness, and will leave even the more hardened viewer gasping for breath.
I rate the Seventh Continent at 9/10. I would have preferred a little more in terms of character motivation (on screen), but then I look around, and I see so clearly, their motivation.
