Audrie Neenan - dual role?

IIRC Audrie Neenan, the actress who plays the policewoman trying to take the mug-shot of Gene Wilder ("What is she saying 'Ship, ship' for?") later turns up as the helpful hotel maid who escorts Richard Pryor to his room. Were the filmmakers on a tight budget, or was there some other reason for this dual role?

I thought maybe her and the film's director, Arthur Hiller, had worked together before on another project, but she hasn't worked on any previous film directed by Hiller. Perhaps he enjoyed working with her so much that he cast her in two seperate roles in the film. She may also have been a last second replacement for another actress.

That would be "separate roles" and sometimes it is my fondest wish to be deleted by an administrator.
