Doesn't die. I mean, he really beat the odds. You can't kill a protagonist, but you sure as shit can murder his fat, jolly, best bud, especially if the guy cheats on his nice wife. I just saw this movie for the third time, and I struggled to remember if Goodman died.

No, he's in the last scene when Pacino meets up with Barkin.

That's incorrect. He gives a statement at the police station casting suspicion on a Black kid.
