When Helen Kruger finds out Frank is a cop he tries to explain it away. When he's at a party and says he's a cop it's like he's got leprosy. Then he says angrily "in the wetass hour, I'm everybody's daddy!" I'm surprised no one else has asked this. But the way I took it, the 'wet ass hour" is when they are in trouble and in need of a cop. Is that your take on it?

Actually, he says "Come the WHITE-ass hour". And yes, I believe you're right that what he's basically saying is that when the sh~^ hits the fan....everyone then loves cops.

What the hell would "white ass hour" even mean? It's clearly "wet-ass hour". And it's then that we need Al Pacino to come over and yell something about that "BIG ASS" - and all those heads up it..

I assumed it meant when people are in trouble....caught with or just have their pants down (literally or figuratively- meaning they're in trouble). I don't know if my DVD copy has an option for subtitles but I'll look and get back to you. It may be "wet ass" but my ears always heard it as "white ass". Um also....not to be politically incorrect here but he WAS referring to rich people and from that I took it to be mean the old, rich, white folks of NY in those days. Just another point that leads me to thinking its "white ass".

The way I took it was he said "I'm everybody's daddy", so a wet ass would mean needing a diaper change. In other words when someone needs something taken care of.
