captain Harris

I realize this is supposed to be a comedy, but did anyone else hope that Captain Harris would get killed? Slowly and painfully if possible.

I actually liked Harris as a character, he did train the original cadets after all. His training got them through to the police they are today and he always knew what he was doing and carried it out properly. Now he seems just seems there for no purpose other than to annoy the audience. He didn't annoy me in police academy because he was always the victim of pranks and bad luck but now he's just an arrogant antagonising idiot although I did like how he professionally gave Hightower his lapels in Assignment to miami beach (#5).

p.s. LMFAO at srgt. fackler rejoining police academy franchise for this movie.

Not really. I thought it would've been interesting if he turned out to be the mastermind, because we don't see him for awhile in the film until the chase scene, when he's peeing against a wall. That shows he isn't the mastermind because Hightower mentions on the CB he's chasing the mastermind.

he's not a very good look-out tho, he seems to be facign the opposite direction when the robberies take place. i can't believe how he never saw the robbery taking place behind him didn't he notice anything in the rear view mirrors, and in the truck he was looking out the window the whole time the diamond was being stolen, he should of have procter watching the diamond while he looked out the window, plus he kept telling procter to shut up and never listened to a word he said in either situations.

"sir, sir, i gotta check and see if you've soiled yourself" Peter Griffin - Family Guy

reply

Well, he was so busy talking to Proctor he didn't notice what was going on. That is the joke.

Why would you want him dead when he's the funniest character in these movies?
What about when he's about to fall off the scafold? "Help!! Oh please god, I'll do anything, I'll feed the poor, help!!!" Hahahahahahaha!!!

It's sad to watch how Harris has been dumbed down from Police Academy 4 and out. In the first movie, he was a skilled instructor who just happened to be an *beep*-hole. In the others he's just a schmuck who wants to mess it up for the others, and take credit himself. Sad.

I agree, they made him Harris a bumbling buffoon and watching him in the 5th and 6th movie was just ridiculous. These two movies are the ones I never watch again. Well, those and the 7th, which I don't even have in my house.

Harris was the only one who didn't annoy me in this one. G.W. Bailey is too good at playing Harris that I was rooting for him to get the upper hand at least once. But he was just the butt end of the pranks for most of it.

It's a shame they made Harris a total buffoon in the sequels. He was already the butt of a few jokes and pranks and had his own mishaps in the first film, but was very far from the bumbling idiot they made him into in the sequels. At least then he was responsible and capable enough to train the original cadets, and wasn't always out on some devious plan to take Lassard's job. Making him the laughing stock of the franchise in the later films just tarnishes the original film and his role in it imo, which is a shame because Harris is truly a great character in the original. But all that said, it matches the rest of the content in the sequels anyway, which for the most part are genuinely awful. Particularly 4 and after, although I'd say 6 is the best of the non-Guttenberg sequels.
