Freddy and Erik

Hello,
I know it is Robert playing the Phantom and Freddy, but is it just me or when the Phantom is not wearing any fake skin, he looks an awful lot like Freddy? It could be my imagination but I have noticed this both times I watched this film. I have a question conerning the book as well. I have never read the book the only translation I found of it was actually in French. Was he a serial killer in the book?

1)I agree that the phantom looked an awful lot like Freddie Kruger. Considering that Robert Englund immortalize the "Freddie" look, his makeup artist didn't do much of stretch. 2) I read a translated version of the novel. Erik could be interpreted as a serial killer. He killed a number of people with the intent and means to do so. motives of course are out of love for his pupil, Christine. Of course, any girl prefers flowers and chocolate compared to a bouquet of corpses. At the same time, however, he meant to kill anyone who stood in the way of Christine's fame. Incidently, the numbers of bodies added up, so by numbers alone, he would be considered a serial killer.

Death Count:

1) Count Phillipe, Raoul's Brother
2) Joseph Buguet, Stagehand

Drugged:

1), 2), 3) Three Stage People whose names I can't remember

And that is all, I think. I may be wrong, but that is all that I remember!
