Near the ending... (SPOILER)

Near the ending, in the scene that Christine realizes that Erik is the Phantom, while listening to "Don Juan Triumphant", Robert Englund enters behind her and says "How do you like it?", is rearly identical to the scene in "The Shining" (1980) when Wendy (Shelley Duval) finds Jack's (Jack Nicholson) manuscript in the lounge and he comes behind her saying "How do you liked it?".
Is this a reference to "The Shining"? Does anybody agree with me?

reply

That also reminded me of "The Shining" but I don't think it is a reference to it.

reply

I've been wondering, how come Erik was in the Present Day?

reply

I think Erik got away from the fire and lived all that time.

Volker Flenske: (While torturing David) I don't know why you're doing this to yourself!

reply

well Erik only turthfully dies when his music is dead in this movie, she just stabbed him back then, not his music, so he lived

He's immortal until his music is completely destroyed.
