foreshadowing by Larry

Something I just noticed. In the dinner scene right after Cool has met the family, the mother asks Larry why he didn't tell them he had a son. He says he didn't know until a few months ago. Then Cool's mother brought him over and said, "You take Cool. I shot someone. I have to leave the country!" Larry then says, "That's a PARENT?"

This foreshadows Larry's actions at the end of the movie, when he in effect tells his father, "You take Cool. I have to leave the country." I wonder if he's saying to himself then, "That's a PARENT?" At least Cool's mother was responsible enough to ensure Cool was taken care of before she fled. Larry hadn't given Cool a second thought until his father brought up, what about Cool.

I never noticed that really. IS kind of weird.

You're right! Great observation!

Yes, that was foreshadowing.

Larry knew his family would not abandon Cool, like he did. So it was the same as Cool's mother, leaving him, but knowing he would be ok.

Though I doubt the thought of Cool popped into Larry's mind very much, after that.
