What took Kevin's school so long?

They introduced the school psychiatrist and said he had been observing Kevin for a while, the school year is almost over, and they just now got around to telling Gil and Karen? With just a month left in the school year, that's the first time you address the problem with the parents? If I were Gil I'd be furious that the school noticed a problem a while ago, enough time to have him observed, and this is the fist I'm hearing of the problem!

In all these years I never thought of that, but good point. That does make them seem at least a little lazy and incompetent. Maybe they only called Gil & Karen in when Kevin maybe acted out so much that they couldn't ignore it anymore?

I never really thought about it but they made a comment about the next semester being a few months away, time enough for them to try working through his problem, I think they wanted the family brought in on it when they would be having him largely for the next few months so maybe he'd be 'straightened out' by the time he came back and was around the other kids.

How the school especially his teacher and the principal handled this whole situation with their son is wrong. They said the dr brought in to observed him for months at school without notifying his parents.

If it was my daughter in the same situation as his, of course I would be furious and blew my head off to them. Nowadays, teachers at school would contact me by a phone call or email me or weekly report paper in my daughter's folder by letting me know how she's doing at school and following up with homework, school activities, projects or school events which is standard producure
