The Ending....
didn't make a damn bit of sense. Did I miss something or does it not make any sense just because its a crappy movie?

It's an ending meant to provoke thought and conversation between other fans.
My interpretation was that the entity would trap you and fed off you. Thus, you would be kept in a sort of never-ending nightmare.
I really enjoyed the film as well.

At the beginning, we see that they are expierencing with nightmares. And at the end the girl keeps saying ''Wake up , wake up''
Maybe she was still in her nightmare, waiting for it to end, to wake up?

(Yes, this is in reply to a 3 year old post, but for anyone reading this forum down the line...)
It was a twist with no clear answer on purpose. It is impossible to say whether or not it was all a product of the dream state or of the supernatural entity because the information was intentially left out for the viewer. In short, it simply isn't offered in the slightest whether or not the bulk of the movie actually occured in reality or just in her head. Now, of course given the ending clearly she was still trapped in either possibility at that point.
Basically it comes down to this. All things considered, both options are equal so it is entirely up to the viewer wether or not it was a supernatural tale of a demonic force or if it was a science fiction take on dreaming.
Personally I lean towards the nightmare scenario given that the characters in the supernatural stretch were horrible cliches of mental retardation and evil doctors with a unscrupulous history, while in the lab setting everyone acted far more normal.

Basically that 1 line sums up the odd take on reality
I'm going to have to ressurect this thread and I know probably no one who posted will see it, but there's one thing about the ending that people are leaving out. When Kim starts to open the series of doors at the end of the movie she says "I thought this was MY dream!" with emphasis on "my", implying that she has just suddenly realized that this isn't her dream, it's someone else's. After that she doesn't yell "Wake up, wake up, wake up", she says "Wake up Stanley! Wake up Stanley!", implying that the actual dreamer of every event in the movie, including the events in the lab, is in fact Stanley. Kind of a dumb twist and I don't really think it adds anything, but I just had to point that out.
shareActually, I'm still around, and I was the original creator of the thread. Just got the email notification that someone had responded. Its been years upon years upon years since I saw the movie, but unless my memory has gone totally *beep* wasn't there someone (a woman, I think) hanging in the doorway after she opened the last door? Thats the part I never understood.
"Never, Never, Never...Throw Chips At A Driver"
the woman hanging was the other blonde student, i have no idea why
