The worst Audrey is Juliet Lewis.

Bad acting. Annoying too.

reply

They probably told her to act like a typical teenager, b/c Juliet Lewis is supposedly the most famous of all the Audreys, oh well she definitely didn't have alot of lines like the other Audreys definitely a poorly written character in that movie, which is surprising b/c I love the vacation movies, I just hated the xmas vacation Audrey.

European Audrey was the worst I thought. Quite painful to watch

reply

YES, European was hands down the worst Audrey. I couldn't stand her. I didn't mind Juliet Lewis.

reply

I can't even watch European Vacation. The Rusty and Audrey are the worst. I can't even stand to look at them. Juliette Lewis is the second worse, though.

reply

No way--she was the best!

reply

no way, European Vacation was the best of the 4.

reply

😂

reply

Juliet was wonderful asswipe...

reply

Not an easy character, but one can appreciate that a teen may react like her with all that that father has put her through.

reply

European Audrey was hilarious! She was waaaay better and funnier than Lewis as Audrey in Christmas vacation.

I would say that Marisol Nichols in Vegas was good, not great, but still a better Audrey than Lewis.

That would make 3 Christmas' I've saved, vs. 8 that I've ruined; two were kind of a draw..

reply

The original Audrey was the funniest scripted IMO. I liked Juliette Lewis' Audrey too. I have to agree that the European Vacation Audrey was a little tough to accept but she apparently did a great job as the actress in that role.

reply

No way.

Juliette Lewis is a good actress who doesn't get enough love on IMDB.

Dana Barron was super cute when she played Audrey Griswald in the first Vacation movie. She reprised the role for the 2003 made for TV spin off "Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure".

Dana Hill played Audrey in "European Vacation". She was best known for roles in "Shoot the Moon" and "Cross Creek". She also worked as a voice actress. A Type I diabetes diagnosis at an early age affected her height and caused lifelong health complications. Her childlike appearance limited her to playing adolescent roles into her thirties. Her breakthrough role was in the 1981 made for TV movie "Fallen Angel". She slipped into a diabetic coma in 1996 and suffered a massive paralytic stroke the following month. On July 15, 1996 Dana Hill passed away at only 32 years old.

Marisol Nichols played Audrey in "Vegas Vacation". She didn't really stand out. Nichols is best known for her role in the sixth season of the TV show "24" as Special Agent Nadia Yassir.

No - Juliette Lewis acted well as a character you don't enjoy.

That's many teens for you.

And you're a hero if you can be Clark's daughter, share a bed with your teen brother, be surrounded by maniacs, and not act similarly.

reply

Juliet Lewis is the best Audrey and then the first Audrey from the original Vacation.

reply

No. way. How is Juliette Lewis a great Audrey? She didn't bring anything worthy to the film.
What made her stand out over other Audrey's? How was she even a typical (and to a degree slightly crazy) Griswold child? A few lines? Being frozen??? (Which wasn't even funny)...

She IS the worst behind the other 3, hands down.

I posted this elsewhere but then found this appropriate thread.

reply

What if the neighbors drive by and they see me out in my pajamas?

reply

I think Juliette Lewis is the best Audrey actually. Her cold, dry way of talking is hilarious.

This is how I rate them the Audreys:
1. Christmas Vacation Audrey
2. Vacation Audrey
3. European Vacation Audrey
4. Vegas Vacation Audrey

reply

Lol -- cold, dry way of talking? That's your argument? That makes her number one on your "list"?
If you ever have any other ideas again, never mention them out loud to anyone, ever!!

reply

Yes cold and dry humor is very funny. It means she doesn't try very hard, she's very straightforward in comparison to Chevy Chase's character.

As a mutual Simpsons fan, we should see eye to eye on humor. I guess everyone's different.

reply

Well darlins, I appreciate the Simpsons connection ...***blush***

here's the issue -- the Audrey in the other movies were way more involved than the christmas one. Therefore there were many other chances to shine and be funny. BOTH kids for that matter. Take the Original Vacation. Rusty and Audrey are very much involved with lots of dialogue and they FEEL like Griswald (Griswold) kids. A big car trip. Lots of time together. Situations involving them and the parents and more chances for us to see them.

Other adventures ensue in European and Vegas Vacations as well -- with features of the storyline that focus solely on Rusty and Audrey's dealings in and around town, even having "alone time" for various reasons.

So why would this Christmas Audrey or Rusty even be considered the top ones? Only because its a sentimental Christmas movie and is the favorite of the four (1983-1997) Vacations? That is unfortunately clouding people's judgement.

By the final third of this film (and even before that point), Audrey is basically non existent. Oh sure, they show her at the dinner table, looking sad in the living room, running around, etc, ..... but that's not constitution a "great Audrey" performance.

The focus is away from the kids for a big portion of the Christmas one. Also they are younger here; I can't see Jason Lively or Anthony Micheal Hall being on the sidelines if they went with and older Rusty or Audrey for that matter.
Many reasons are stated all over this board and even other National Lampoon boards as to why this one is *different* than the others....... more family visiting, the parents, Eddie, Clark's boss, it's a staycation, and more.

reply

yes, unless you count the 2015 film. she's not bad though.

reply

So many people are forgetting to add the 2015 vacation to the list. Even me, as I still always think of the "original" four films.

That would make 3 Christmas' I've saved, vs. 8 that I've ruined; two were kind of a draw..

reply

Exactly.

People seem to neglect the fact that Vacation (2015) is a sequel of and is canon to the original films.

So, therefore, that title would now go to Leslie Mann. She was absolutely horrible as Audrey in the 2015 version. Actually, that entire movie was cringe-worthy.

If I were to rank them, then I would say (from best to worst):

• Dana Barron - National Lampoon's Vacation (1983)
• Juliette Lewis - National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)
• Marisol Nichols - Vegas Vacation (1997)
• Dana Hill (R.I.P.) - National Lampoon's European Vacation (1985)
• Leslie Mann - Vacation (2015)
