The title?

Maybe I'm not the first to ask this, but why is the movie called "Mystery Train"? As far as I remember, only the Asian couple arrive on a train. Wouldn't a better title have been "Mystery Hotel" since that's where most of the scenes took place?

All three segments had at least one scene of the passenger train crossing the bridge as at least one character looked out the window. Well, the last segment had the train crossing the bridge as the three guys who knocked off the liquor store. That scene had the train crossing the bridge as they were driving down the street towards it. As I was watching Mystery Train the first time, that's when I realized that all three segments were continuing concurrently. That and the gunshot scene that is.

The name of the Elvis Presley song that is playing at the start of the movie is Mystery Train.

Yeah that too I guess.

The title is a reference to the classic song by Junior Parker (recorded at Sun in Memphis) and later recorded by Elvis. I'm sure you knew that. But if you know the lyrics to the song, you know that there is no "mystery" in the song either. The only mystery is why it's titled Mystery Train. So, JJ's just trying to be clever.
