I've watched two movies based upon novels written by Georges Simenon.

After watching The Man from London and this one, I'm giving up on movies based upon his novels. The stories are too bizarre and weird when made into movies for this Yank. As novels being read, the stories are probably OK; but made into movies, the stories become pretentious, self-absorbed, and much too long and contrived to get the author's point across. The photography is often beautiful.

Maybe I'm missing something. Feel free to give advice.

I'm a little confused.

I did watch "Red Lights" "Feux rouges" (2004) after watching Monsieur Hire and thought "Red Lights" was very good. The disintegration of the male lead over the course of the movie is well-portrayed. However, the story wasn't based in the USA, but in France I think. Four other people are given "writing credits" in addition to the Simenon novel. Those four people may have been needed to make Georges Simenon's novel filmable.

There was a later film also named "Red Lights" (2012) that appears not to be from any of Simenon's work, according to IMDb credits. I've never seen that film.

Which of Simenon's novels is based in the USA?
