When oh when will we get a high quality dvd edition?!

I've owned the dark, crappy looking semi-legit Substance videotape(gasp!)of this great film for ages now. When will we get a proper widescreen dvd special
edition? I mean, is Mr. Oscar-winning Director Pete Jackson embarrased about this film or something? Frankly, he should be embarrased about Lovely Bones, that movie stunk. Meet the Feebles is about a million times more interesting and memorable than Lovely Bones, and his remake of King Kong, for that matter.
When Jackson gave his acceptance speech after winning Best Director for Return of the King, didn't he mention Feebles and Bad Taste? I think he said something like they were two movies of his that the Academy rightfully ignored.

Well according to the trivia it's unlikely:

"This film was shot with standard 16mm color film stock, which has a TV-Monitor aspect ratio of 4:3 (or 1.33:1). So all VHS and DVD editions that look like they are "pan and scan" are really fullscreen."

The movie is certainly deserving of a special edition; it's hilariously dark and insane stuff.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

Being that this year marks Peter Jackson's 25th year of filmmaking and that The Hobbit is coming soon, this would be a good time to release a new (authorized) edition of this film.

I read somewhere that a special edition DVD is in the works for this with Peter Jackson's involvement. I hope it's true.
