Doesn't this scene break your heart?

I love this movie so much.

But there is a scene that just tears my heart in two. And makes me so mad I just wanna jump right in there and teach that granddaughter a lesson. I'm talking about when KiKi delivers the Grandmother's pie to her granddaughter's birthday party. And she says "I hate Grandma's stupid pot pies." or something like that...It breaks my heart because KiKi and the Grandmother worked so hard on that pie. And plus her Grandmother loves her Granddaughter so very much...AND not to mention it makes me think of my Grandmother who has passed away. I just wanna KICK THAT GIRL!!! argh!

Anyone else agree?

So true! I totally agree silenthillfankatie. That little girl annoyed me SO much and I just could believe how she had zero regard for her lovely grandmother. I felt sadness in this scene as well as a bit of anger. Sadness because I think that we should respect our elders.... especially our grandparents. They have been through so much in their lives.

I suppose it is a little sad, but kind of typical. She certainly could have at least been more polite to Kiki given she had to make the delivery in very bad weather. Despite her rudeness, I don't necessarily think it's intentional disrespect to dislike a particular food item, even if it was made with love. Like I said, I was more upset at her disregard of Kiki's efforts more than her disliking her Grandma's pies.

I was heartbroken when her cat companion first appeared to leave her for the white cat.

There had to be some selfish, stuck up people in the movie since there was no real protagonist. The granddaughter, the first witch Kiki met on her way to the town, the jerks who were friends with Tombo. Not everyone was going to be nice. I think it was part of the movie being realistic.
