Wonderful B-Movie Goodness! In a very pricey Hollywood wrapper

Massive budget for the day. Looks like they stole the sets off the Alien sound stage. This is B-Movie making at its best. Although, Im sure it was designed as an A movie, Its without a doubt a B-Movie. Still, this is some wonderful Sci-Fi Creature Cheese! Makes a great rental, goes well with scotch, or wine. Nothing heavy handed about it. No preaching! No guilt laden themes! Pure movie goodness!

So predictable it hurt. Just finished watching it. Toward the end of the movie whent hey're on the surface and a SHARK attacks them I just started laughing at how goofy it was that the black guy was cracking jokes AS A SHARK WAS ATTACKING THEM.

I also liked how the helicopter landed on the water. Yes, Landed on the water.

Then of 'course there's the ol' "Thought you finished off the monster, but Oh Noes he's back for one final attack" cliche.

I know what you mean. While it is purely predictable by the whole, it's still highly enjoyable. The cast, george costamos' direction, ron cobb's sets and jerry goldsmith's old fashioned score help compensate for the lack of originality in the plot. Yeah it's a B-movie, but it's done with class and professionalism that you don't see in other movies like this. (Deepstar six anyone?) This film is definitely worthy of some respect.

I am in agreement. This is the kind of movie some call a 'guilty pleasure' for me, though I won't hide the fact that I love it. The cast, the visuals, the cheese. It's a great monster B-movie flick with an A-movie (for the 80s) cast! They certainly don't make em like this anymore!

I have to agree. Awesome high budgeted B-Movie. Basic plot, but with fairly good special effects and actors. I always enjoy watching it.

Yes, that's exactly what I loved about it. B-movie feeling with A-movie looks. I'd like to see more movies like this one. Any recommendation?
