The Doctor - Master of the Obvious?

I nominate the good Doc for being the master of the obvious!

About 25 minutes into the film, the next 10 minutes kill me every time!

1. When Sixpack first disappears and the monitors go nuts with the alarms, blinking "Signal Lost" on and off, and the doctor turns almost to the camera and says "He's Gone". Kills me every time.

2. Right after the above comment, when they're looking at the video feed from the camera on the diving suit and it suddenly turns to snow and the doctor turns around again and says "We've lost him". I know it's coming and it still gets me.

3. When they're looking at the video feed of the sunken ship and the name of the ship comes across and the doctor says "That's Russian." oh, thank God! That backwards N in the name of the ship had me reaching for my Korean/English dictionary initially!

Of course, Master of the Clueless goes to Mr. Cobb. When they first open the safe from the ship and the doctor translates the title of the videotape and Cobb says, "You speak Russian?" I almost want to yell at the screen, "Hey, Cobb, weren't you standing next to the doc 10 minutes ago when he read the name of the sunken ship to everyone in Russian and then translated it?!"

And a special shout out to the dancing 3-D animation of the diving suit on the menu of the DVD. It serves no real purpose but I can watch that thing dance for at least a half hour and never get bored!

I'm with you on most, but regarding nr. 3, do remember that Russia isn't the only country to use Cyrillic writing. It's widely used in the Balkan countries and in many of the former USSR states. Even Mongolia uses Cyrillic writing, but it's of course unlikely they'd have a merchant fleet, being all landlocked.

when he is translating the russian ships captains log and the screen go blank and he says "and then it goes off"

Lol... I forgot about that but that is true! Now that I think about it, that's pretty funny!

This post literally had me laughing out loud. I was laughing so loud that it woke my girlfriend up from her nap, and she even had earphones on listening to music! LOL

However, despite everything in the OP, nothing beats the Charlize Theron moment in Prometheus when the David character cuts off her video feed and she utters... "Son of a bitch... you cut me off."

The way the OP feels about the various moments he or she mentions, that is how I felt when I heard that line from Theron in Prometheus. Terrible stuff.

All in all, I thought the characterization in Leviathan was top-notch despite it being a pretty bad B-movie overall.
