Better than Alien/Aliens

This movie wasn't trying to be like Aliens in terms of epic action film making or like Alien with it's massive set designs. It was trying to be a light hearted action/sci fi/horror film and succeeded in doing that. You have a great monster, a great cast, scary moments, and my always favorite, the sacrifice of the african american to save the lives of the white protagonists. I wasn't worn down at the end of the film like I was with Alien and Aliens. I got my money's worth when I saw this in the threaters. I didn't waste money when I bought it on VHS and I was impressed with the DVD conversion. Overall one of my favorite movies.

lol. i grade him a B+ just cause his troll succeeded when i said to myself that this guy is nuts. therefore he got his rise out of me and therefore was a higher grade.

Leviathan(1989) is one of the last films that I watched with my uncle before he died from cancer. It was shown on The Sci-Fi Channel. Now the name is spelled "SyFy". The film is an hoamge to Alien(1979) and The Thing(1982).
It's good, old cheesy fun from Hollywood. Jerry Goldsmith's music score is kind of avant garde. You can hear dolphins and whales over the opening credits.

Yeah, Leviathan is clearly a nod to Alien & The Thing, with the infection starting early (much like The Thing) and a company not doing enough like The Company did in the Alien films. I don't think it's better than the Alien films, maybe Alien: Resurrection though.
