6.5...

One question: Why? This movie is a classic.

It's a great movie no doubt, but for some reason comedies don't get high ratings (in general).

I think to truly appreciate this movie you have had to spend some time betting at horse and dog tracks. When i was younger i spent a lot of time at the t rack and this was my fav and ultimate movie...i would kill to have a day like that. i've had good days don't get me wrong...but not like that....

I've never been to a horse race, but this movie still is great to me. I don't understand how it gets such a mediocre score. If people are actually drawn to watching it, I assume they like horse racing, gambling, or Richard Dreyfuss. And the movie delivers on all levels. I even heard Dreyfuss profess that he really was proud of the movie on some call in show (Stern?) years ago.

It is in my top 5 favorite films of all time.

Critics only like movies that follow a certain formula... and movie goers only like movies that adhere to a even more cookie cutter formula... everybody sucks

Now is with 6.4 here. Im very surprised to see that this movie have so many fans. I watch it yesterday and it looked pretty bad to me. Even the likable Richard Dreyfuss was so annoying. 3/10

I guess that's not very surprising. You don't seem to have many comedies on your list of favorites. Oh well. To each their own.

this movie has great performances...richard dreyfuss as trotter, david johansen as looney and teri garr as pam...but my two favorites are jennifer tilly as vicki and robbie coltrane as the ticket seller...film is worth watching even to see a young cynthia nixon as evangeline..
