I know this was released in 1989, but come on $710 is NOT rich! I turned it off shortly after that.

Dude...the movie is about degenerate gamblers...people who bet every last cent they have. These poor souls bet $5 or $2 at a time to get their gambling fix, so a $710 win would make them FEEL rich.

If you are not smart enough to understand this, you could always watch 'Fast and Furious 8' again.

That's a shame. You missed a pretty funny movie. Clearly, he's just exaggerating.

When he wins the $69,000 he goes through his expenses/debts it all evens out and he says: "I'm broke."

I'm old enough to remember that this was a huge commercial and critical flop.

Its sort of cute that its found an audience all these years later.

It's a comedy and this was one its innumerable funny lines.
