Seriously, I love this movie. It's dark, sad, brutal, and powerful. It insipred me to read the book. It took me a long, long time to get a hold of a VHS copy of the film, and I keep thinking to myself--why isn't this movie released on DVD? They should make a DVD of this movie. I can't believe it's forgotten like this.
shareI don't know when you posted this, or where you live, but I know there is an (extremely poor) Region 4 version.
It's perfectly decent but the visual quality is not very good at all. There's a trailer and an essay as extra's but that's about it.
I ordered a copy off eBay that is region 0 and just got it. It's not of bad quality definitely worth it.
shareI got my copy (region 0) from eBay well over a year ago, as well. I found it to be a decent transfer. Not much in the extras department, but geeze!, what a film!! In spite of the change in the ending, most of what Selby wrote is up there. Kudos to Desmond Nakano for adapting the book so well into a narrative film.
