Should Daniel be stripped of the second All-Valley Under 18 Championship?

1. The rules of the tournament are unfair at best. There is also the possibility of corruption. All other competitors have to go through the best fighters the valley has to offer only to face a completely rested and injury free opponent in the final match.

2. Daniel is obviously over 18 due to the fact that he was supposed to be finishing his first year of college at the time of the tournament. Therefore, by striking Mike Barnes in the tournament he committed assault against a minor.

Miyagi-Do should be banned for life from the All Valley for placing a grown man against a teenage boy.

reply

Everything you say NRC123/cruisin109/Chris822cats, is negated by the fact he was asked to take part and he didn't make the rules. Miyagi didn't put him in the competition, Daniel was invited to take part.
Why would the people who invited him to take part strip him of his title?

reply

"Why would the people who invited him to take part strip him of his title?"

Perhaps someone on the governing board wants to bring the integrity of the All-Valley back because the current leader just doesn't know what karate is all about.

reply

because the current leader just doesn't know what karate is all about.
^^^^
A bit like you then?
They brought integrity back to the All Valley by getting rid of that rule.

reply

If you won a tournament when you was 16/17 and it got stripped from you at 50 would you care ?

I wouldn't, it's not the Olympics

reply

I wouldn't and neither would most people. However, we are forgetting that Daniel is a petty and vindictive person. Both traits of which are inarguably demonstrated all the way from the time Daniel blatantly told Mr. Miyagi that his first reason for karate training was revenge, and all the way to the final episode in season 2 of Cobra Kai when he broke and entered into Johnny's apartment. All that after Johnny provided a safe place for Samantha to stay until the effects of alcohol wore off. Proof that Johnny's offspring is more respectful of the negative aspects of underage drinking than is Daniel's. But I digress.

Yes, this person would absolutely care if his tournament got stripped. In fact he would probably jeopardize his own marriage just to get the title reinstated.

reply

Just like seven time Tour de France winner and national hero Lance Armstrong.

Do you think he cares that they've "stripped" him of his titles and riding up the Champs-Élysées sipping the sweet Champagne of victory seven times in a row?

I think not...

reply

With immediate effect. The ‘85 tournament was a complete farce which should be erased from the record books. Thankfully the rule had been abolished by the time of the 2018 tournament, allowing Miguel a fair victory.

reply

Absolutely. It is rather telling that the rules were reverted back to their original state.

reply

First sensible thing you've said regarding that tournament

reply

The board should have taken things a step further and handed Daniel a lifetime ban. He disrespected the spirit of the karate during both of his dubious victories.

reply

Well what the board did was hand out a lifetime ban to the correct party who disrespected Karate.
Guess you missed that part eh?

reply

It was a misjudgment on their part. The Cobra Kai dojo was the beating heart of the All Valley tournament. It’s popularity and prestige suffered as a result.

reply

A misjudgement is an error, a hiccup even. What Cobra Kai did was act in this manner all the time. That is until Johnny resurrects it in Cobra Kai series.
As for being the beating heart of the Valley, the valley managed quite nicely for 30 odd years without them.

reply

I should write a letter to your local karate governing body, informing them of your misdeeds on this board. If certain information came to light, they would have no choice but to ban you from all future competitions.

reply

No problem. It's not a local governing body though....it's national.
The governing body is the English Karate Organization.
Feel free to write, after all reporting people is your thing isn’t it?

reply

Uh WA you were the one who publicly threatened to report people on this board or gave u forgotten?

reply

Keep up with current affairs will you. I mean you are sat in the same room being the same person after all.

reply

Still waiting for documented proof that you are a tournament champion.

reply

Maybe you will get it when you 'ahem' report me to the EKO.

reply

1) I agree that you should not participate in just one fight. But suspect that since Terry specifically wanted Barnes to beat on Daniel, he may have used his influence to arrange that.

2) Your timeline is off. KK I started just before Daniel started his senior year. Daniel turned 16 the day before the first tournament which is how old you need to be to get a license in CA. You are incorrect about the 18 and who says he didn't take driver ed. Most schools offer it to students coming of age. KK II takes place six months after the first as stated in the movie. KK III takes place almost immediately after that summer when Daniel is supposed to be starting (not finishing) his first year at college. Being from New Jersey, which is where Daniel is supposed to come from, I can assure you that while rare there are people who have started college when they are 17, especially at that time when the age to start school was in flux.

reply

"But suspect that since Terry specifically wanted Barnes to beat on Daniel, he may have used his influence to arrange that."

This logic is not consistent with the film. Terry specifically states one of his core values is "fair play". If that is true then it should be seen as a goof in the screen play.

"I can assure you that while rare there are people who have started college when they are 17, especially at that time when the age to start school was in flux."

No doubt, there have been people who started college at 10 years of age. However, Daniel is not intelligent enough to one of those students.

1) The film establishes that Silver is a liar and a cheat
2) I'm talking about when he started school in NJ.
Why am I trying to clarify this? Someone could say the sky is blue and you would spout off nonsense, Cruisn109.

reply

Silver did a little white lie once or twice in the movie, but he told the truth 99% of the time. I wouldn't say he is more of a liar than anyone else in the movie.

Here are a few examples of him telling the truth...
1. "War does something to a man, you had to have been there to know what I mean."

2. He talked about Kreese saving his life in Vietnam.

3. He agreed with Margaret that Barnes is obnoxious

4. he was truthful about the lax laws regarding toxic waste in the previous decade.

5. He rightfully warned Daniel not to rely on the crane kick, accurately anticipating what happened with Chozen.

6. He was openly admitted to bribing someone.

7. He told Daniel that karate is only for defense.

None of these truths are refutable. Clearly Silver tells the truth a vast majority of the time.

reply

A little white lie? He said Kreese had died, hardly a little white lie.

He manipulated Daniel throughout the movie, which anyway you cut it is nefarious to say the least.

He brought in a ringer to not just win the all valley, but to beat on Daniel.

He paid a guy to get Daniel to break his nose in an action which wasn't self defence.

None of these truths are refutable. Clearly Silver is a liar and a cheat the majority of the time.
