The Kai did Whinielle a favor to attempt to toughen him up.. his Mom should have thanked them. If soft candy ass Whinielle was going to DIE by going for a simple run with Jessica then maybe desperate measures to correct this were called for earlier.
Kreese wanted Whinielle's soft dough-boy knuckles to bleed so that maybe just MAYBE he would learn how to throw a real punch that could actually hurt someone!

I never said they DID try to kill him, I merely asked IF they tried to kill him, and was it attempted murder.
When he went tumbling down that hill they didn't appear to care what happened to him.
When Johnny delivered that flying side kick he obviously didn't care what happened to him. Such a kick is powerful enough without flying through the air to do it. Had it landed it COULD have killed him. He couldn't stand unaided as it was.
Also, Kreese wanted Daniel to suffer, so your premise that he was toughening him up as a favour is nonsense. Why the hell would he want that when he wanted him to get beaten by Barnes.
