Just found out that this too is being remade...

Now I'm not one of these people who actually thinks the studio pays attention to these boards, but I need to vent...I have had enough, why, tell me why, do you have to remake everything. Are kids too stupid to realize that films were around before they were born? God, there is nothing wrong with this film, get an original idea damn it!! If you have to remake something from my childhood at least give us another Rocketeer film. I love The Rocketeer movie but would love to see something closer to the comics, same goes for Dick Tracy, but not Honey I Shrunk the Kids. The "dated" feel and effects are what makes it fun for us, and the kids, including my four year old nephew, love the film for how great it is. Ok, end of my long vent, I'm just a big movie nerd who's tired of re-boots, and re-makes...

I agree with you on Hanah Montana, my thing is I hate CGI, it is and always will be the huge elephant in the room. I much prefer organic special effects, when done well they look 100 times better then any CGI, example Ghostbusters. the use of puppets or models looks a lot better then some fake slippery/wet looking video game animation walking around. I'm not in anyway saying I'm right your wrong, I swear I'm just looking for opinions on childhood films being remade, i respect your opinions. Also I agreee every plot has been done, I don't mind remakes but I think in most cases they should wait longer then 20 years, unless the original film was a bomb, ie..the original Maltise Falcon bombed and two years later they remade it with Bogart and it was a huge hit. That's ok, but these remakes of films everyone remembers shove their way in and try to take the place of usually the better film. (the original).

So they are going to take the time to remake this movie but not give it a better DVD/Blu Ray release? Geez. There is actually a facebook page protesting a remake of this film.

I rarely see the point in a remake. Unless the movie was bad the first time around but had a great story. For instance I feel that Plan 9 From outerspace had a great Sci-fi horror plot but not alot of talent went into making the film. I can see a remake of this being succesful. As for 80's kids action adventure films that were great back then, and still great today, I see no point.

I'm not with this remake idea. This film is nostalgic to me, from the effects to the music score. Disney's only remaking it for the CGI/3D craze. Hollywood needs to wake up and think outside the box. I'll bet each studio has a massive pile of original scripts that are collecting dust because the execs decided to pull random past movies out of a hat to remake.

I'm curious to how this is going to turn out, but there might be a ray of hope: maybe Disney will re-release the original on a extras-packed DVD. It better happen.

Weird is the new normal.

By Michael Bay, right?

Let's see... Miley Cyrus or Dakota Fanning could play Amy. Justin Bieber could play Little Russ. Zak Efron could play Ron. That kid from Super 8 could play Nick. Or maybe Shia LeBeouf could play Little Russ? I mean why not, he's already ruined the new Indiana Jones and the Wall Street sequel. Like Seth MacFarlane, he's going after everything '80s. Watch, if they remake Back to the Future, he'll try to play Marty.

How about Wayne Szalinski? Let's see... too bad Christopher Lloyd isn't younger... Ben Stiller maybe? Owen Wilson could play Big Russ.

You know, maybe they should leave this one alone.
