Location (of story, not filming): Fresno?

I checked trivia and FAQ on here, and I don't see anything about where the movie is supposed to take place. I don't remember noticing any license plates or addresses on the mail.

But I'm watching Honey, I Blew Up the Kid right now, and Wayne just went off on Henrickson and said something along the lines of "you think I'm just some guy from Fresno?"

Is that a good enough reference for anyone to assume that's where HISTK was set? Anybody ever notice anything else from the 1st or 2nd movies to support this or suggest anyplace else?

I'd say it's a fair assumption. It would certainly explain why there was a scorpion in their backyard.

I'm not completely sure. Despite Wayne saying he's a "guy from Fresno," I think the first movie may take place in Southern California. I'm pretty sure I once saw a close up of the Szalinski's phone that showed a their home number had a Southern California area code and there's a some Beverly Hills sign in the background when Diane is at the mall. In the second movie, Amy says their old house is near Cal State, but that could mean they lived in Fresno, Southern California and anywhere else in the state. The police in the first movie would be a good clue, but it's hard to tell what their uniform/squad car says.

I think HISTK takes place in California (but I'm not sure exactly where). In addition to nyfraggle's points, I'd like to add that Wayne's hoodie at the end of the movie says Caltech on it.
