You think you're watching a Jim Carey movie, Jim Carey completely ripped that guy off and made a ridiculous career out of it...

I thought that Matt Frewer's character did sound exactly like a generic Jim Carrey comedic character. However, I think it's more that they have similar sounding voices than anything.

Maybe Carrey should play Russ Sr. in the remake, assuming if its still being considered, which I pray won't, but if it does at least cast him.

I said this to my dad when we were re-watching this today. I came on here to see if anyone thought the same! xD he even acts the same, it's amazing.

Just look for clips of the 80s TV series "Max Headroom" (in which Frewer played the title character), and you will see some very Jim Carrey-ish characteristics.
