This movie shaped my first impressions of the USA

Well one of a handful of movies. (Beverly Hills Cop 2, Robocop, Ghostbusters)

I was born and grew up in africa. I was 3 when this movie came out. I first saw this movie on VHS when I was 6 or 7. Back then time moved so slowly. A month felt like a year, and a year felt like an ETERNITY. My conscious mind hadn't developed, leaving me fully connected to my subconscious mind and all the creative energies of the universe. It was a magical time, all those beautiful emotions and feelings I had. I had no awareness of a lot of things. I truly miss my childhood.

I had probably watched it like a hundred times. But each year, I'd understand something I didn't understand before. Like Russ Jr and Amy's plot that led to them kissing.

I saw Blew Up The Kid in 1998 after I came to the USA. Never saw the other movies and the TV show, though. But I'll assume they all went downhill.

The second time I ever saw Matt Frewer was in Eureka. Soon as I saw him, I fell in love with that show even more.

Here I am in 2013 watching the original movie and Blew Up The Kid on ABC Family, after god knows how many years, probably at least 10 years. It reminds me of the magic of that time.

So, what did you think when you moved here? Were your impressions correct? Suburban sprawl and all that?

Well, it's been 15 years, but it was everything I expected, and then some.

I really like how you describe what it is like to be young and unaware of the rest of the world.
