A full trip across the backyard and they only come across one ant and on
ly come across one ant and one scorpion?
sharely come across one ant and one scorpion?
shareDon't forget the bee!
shareLol yeah... but how did they even come across a scorpion ?! Are they common in America or something? Don't get them here..
shareI guess it depends on where you live. I live in Texas and we get scorpions pretty often.
But I definitely agree. Only one ant and one bee and one scorpion... where are all the beetles and the mosquitoes and all the other little bugs I find in my yard regularly?
I mean, I get why they DIDN'T do more than the three or four insects in the movie (let's face it, 80s special effects weren't exactly top of the line), just might have been cool to see a little more. I definitely wouldn't want a remake, though. The thought of one of my favorite childhood movies being remade with even WORSE actors and exaggerated special effects (and a crap script, most likely) makes me want to cry. =/
"The hardest thing in this world is to live in it. Be brave. Live. For me."
There's a number of ways they could have come across the scorpion. They may live where there are scorpions. It could also be an escaped pet or one that somehow got into a car and was taken there. In the U.S., scorpions are most common in the desert. They are also in the east.
shareI found the movie a bit dry but this is a Disney movie and anything that would put the movie in science horror was a no no. Here you have 4 kids shrunk down to the size of pin heads. They end up in the their backyard and that's where the real adventure begins ... it was a yawner of an adventure but so be it. And the fact that their backyard seems void of a ton of insects surprised me. One ant and one scorpion. I always wondered what was a scorpion doing in a backyard. That species of animal seemed out of place. Anyway 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' is cute with a dash of gee golly.
