Saw this movie as a kid.....
and it scared the absolute crap out of me!!!
shareMovie was made in my town and I have been in that house many times. By clever editing showing driveways way long out in the sticks (the house is right on Olive Avenue) it looks very isolated. It used to be in orange groves but houses now almost abut upon it. The elderly residents were treated to a month in London in exchange for use of the house; cables were laid, lighting installed and the movie was shot. When the Smith's returned, the house was restored to original, no damage whatsoever. The carriage house is as shown and most of the grove scenes were done in their grove. The scenes on the roof were scary as you are 30 feet up and the roof has a severe pitch. Mistakes would have been fatal.
